What is the difference between a couch and a sofa? As far as I can tell couch has some psychoanalysis-therapy associations, as in "on the couch." Maybe for this reason I call it a SOFA.I have sofas on my mind, why you might ask, because my sofa broke. I have been looking on ebay and craigslist for a mid century style that needs some work. Maybe I can get one with great bones and reupholster a few years later. Meanwhile, I just have to share one of my favorites: the green polka dot sofa in Lena Corwin's home, see her blog O. There cannot be a more perfect sofa for me. You know of my love of green, polka dots, and anything mid century. First, we had a few gray days in September. Then it got a little chilly...that was right before it got up to 80 degrees but I sorta blocked that out. Right after the gray and the chilly, I was reminded and inspired by Nicole over at Making it Lovely (and a lovely home she does have, check out the Apartment Therapy Chicago featured slideshow here) about the Hunter wellies. I need to remind myself on a daily basis that it rains about 5 times a year here in southern California and thus I don't NEED rainboots. Oh, but a girl can dream. What color to get when I finally move to an area where there are seasons and it does rain more than a few times a year...pumpkin, chocolate, red, yellow, navy, or green. I guess it also must get cool enough to wear the fleece wellie socks.
You can find the Hunter Original rain boots online at Nordstroms, Zappos, Piperlime, Shopbop and Saks. I did see a few on ebay but rumor has it that the sizing runs big. I would go to a store and figure out your size before ordering something on ebay that is not returnable.

I hit the jackpot this week. After a very disappointing stop at IKEA to sit in the jakob and jules desk chairs, I found french, white vintage, metal bistro chairs on craigslist. TEB and I drove out to Encinitas to meet with the French seller who was selling them after the closing of a few of his chain of cafes called Champagne French Bakery. We took home two chairs that have become our new desk chairs, completing our recent cameleon room makover. I will post pictures of the finished cameleon room later but for now I could not be happier with my french chairs that have a story. A while back I mentioned that I was obsessed with yellow shoes. So far this summer I have still been taken with the color yellow. I've been told, on numerous occasions, that I cannot, under no circumstances wear the color yellow. I do love the color though so I thought its use as an accessory was just fine. I found these Saltwater Sandals, via Wiksten, was curious at their seemingly high quality, yet low price tag. When I saw that they had them in YELLOW, I ordered them straight away. They arrived last week in time for me to wear them to the Del Mar Races. Sorry the picture is a little blurry. Though I did not wear these as a child, I did see a toddler wearing them at the library last night. They are very comfortable and I would even consider getting them in another color, if I needed them.

Remember my pear fabric purchase? Well, I was seriously disappointed. Not because there was anything wrong with the Marimekko pear fabric but because I failed to notice how large it was. There was no place for us to put it in our entire apartment. I passed it onto TEB's mom so there was no big loss. I am still looking something to brighten up the kitchen and I am loving the le mela apple print pictured below. 
SJP's kitchen first seen on NIBS and recently reminded by Black Eiffel. Purchase La Pera or Le Mela from KIDonNY or Nova68. Both are quite pricey but if you are willing to go for a poster, instead of a print, then the price drops by 50$.
