Alaska: Nenana Ice Classic
Interested in a little gambling fun? Buy tickets for the Nenana Ice Classic and guess when the Tanana River ice will break up and surge downstream tripping the time clock. For as along as I can remember each of my family members gets 2 guesses at when the tripod will head downriver each spring. It looks like you can only buy tickets in person. The ice has never gone out prior to April 20th (1940 and 1998). My guesses are on May 1st and 7th. Here is to good luck and 20 years of ice guesses.
